Mercedes-Benz of Marin is seeking a senior technician to lead the service shop, merge hands-on diagnostic work with team leadership, and uphold Mercedes-Benz OEM standards. This Shop Foreman role emphasizes technical authority and developing the technicians around you in a high-end Marin County environment.

You will oversee workflow, guide complex repairs, mentor staff, and collaborate with service advisors while maintaining a top-tier guest experience and a safe, efficient shop.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of flat-rate technician experience with leadership.
• Mercedes-Benz or luxury European brand experience.
• Master technician certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop operations—managing technician workflow, repair order dispatch, bay assignments, and throughput.
• Serve as the technical authority in the shop—support technicians on complex diagnostics and ensure OEM standards are met.
• Perform hands-on diagnostic and repair work as needed while leading by example.
• Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and quality with real-time coaching.
• Coordinate with service advisors on repair timelines, diagnostic findings, and technician capacity while keeping guest commitments.
• Support warranty documentation accuracy—review repair orders for labor operations and OEM compliance.
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and development of service technicians.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professionally run shop environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Oversee daily shop operations -- managing technician workflow, repair order dispatch, bay assignments, and throughput to keep the service department running efficiently and on schedule
• Serve as the technical authority in the shop -- supporting technicians on complex diagnostic challenges, reviewing repair plans, and ensuring all work meets Mercedes-Benz OEM standards before vehicles are returned to guests
• Perform hands-on diagnostic and repair work as needed -- the Shop Foreman at this level is still a working technician who leads by example
• Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and quality -- providing real-time coaching and feedback that develops skill and maintains the shop's standard
• Coordinate with service advisors on repair timelines, diagnostic findings, and technician capacity -- keeping communication clear and guest commitments intact
• Support warranty documentation accuracy -- reviewing repair orders for proper labor operations, causal parts, and OEM compliance before submission
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and development of service technicians
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professionally run shop environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of flat-rate technician experience, with demonstrated shop leadership or senior technician experience -- required
• Mercedes-Benz or luxury European brand experience strongly preferred -- XENTRY/DAS proficiency, MBZ factory certifications, and deep familiarity with the brand's repair standards are significant advantages
• Master technician certification or equivalent diagnostic and repair depth -- the Shop Foreman is the technical standard-setter for the shop
• Proven ability to develop other technicians -- you lead through coaching and technical authority, not just seniority
• Strong working knowledge of shop workflow, repair order management, and warranty documentation requirements
• Clear, professional communicator -- equally effective with technicians, service advisors, and service management
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
