Job summary

SST Direct is seeking a hands-on Shop Foreman / Lead Diesel Mechanic in Indianapolis to oversee fleet maintenance, repairs, and daily shop operations. This role combines advanced mechanical work with team leadership to keep trucks and equipment safe and ready for field operations.

You will diagnose diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems; manage schedules, parts, and vendor coordination; and ensure DOT compliance while mentoring technicians and driving a culture of quality and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of diesel mechanic, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair experience.
• Strong diagnostic skills with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Previous leadership or technician training experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience managing shop workflow, parts inventory, and vendors.
• CMMS or fleet maintenance software experience preferred.
• DOT certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL and welding/fabrication experience preferred.
• Landscaping, construction, or commercial fleet experience preferred.

Responsibilities
