Border International Trucks in El Paso, TX is seeking a Shop Foreman to lead a team of qualified service technicians and ensure repairs are performed efficiently and to high standards.

The role focuses on staffing, skill development, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, with accountability for warranty procedures and accurate job charging. Strong leadership and organizational abilities are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
• Two to four years related experience and/or training
• Automotive ASE Certification
• Must have valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Recruits, hires, and motivates qualified service technicians.
• Assist technicians in developing their skills.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations.
• Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
• Establishes and maintains customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
• Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and payroll records.

A Shop Foreman ensures that repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains consistently high levels of satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruits, hires, and motivates qualified service technicians.
• Assiststechnicians in developing their skills.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, andcomplies withfederal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
• Ensure that all department employees receiveappropriate manufacturertraining.
• Conducts regular performance reviews for all techniciansin accordance withdealership guidelines.
• Ensure that all repairs are assigned to technicians in an equal and fair manner.
• Provides technical support for technicians when necessary.
• Ensures repairs arecharged outcorrectly.
• Inspectsprogress of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks.Conductsperiodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Road tests vehicles toquality-checkwork performed.
• Accounts for alldocuments;ensurethat none aremissing,and all are processed correctly.
• Establishes andmaintainscustomer follow-upprogramto confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
• Handles all customer complaints within 24 hours, informing other managers asappropriate.
• Manages department performance using tools such as the daily operating control (DOC), efficiency and productivity control, comeback reports, warranty reports, telephone surveys, and monthly forecasts.
• Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
• Monitorsshop condition, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment. Reports problems to the service manager or dealer.
• Ensure proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
• Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
• Fillsin for service advisor and dispatcher when necessary.
• Attend managers’ meetings as requested.
• Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.
• Maintainssafework environment.
• Maintains professional appearance.
• Other dutiesassigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two to fouryears’related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification
• Manufacturer Training
• Musthave valid Driver'sLicense.
• Must be able to manage simultaneous custom projects withstrongunderstanding of production scheduling.
• Must have good verbal communication skills and the ability to calmly resolve issues that arise.
• Must be able to motivate others and lead by example.
• Must be self-motivated,detail orientedand professionalalways.
