Job summary

Epic Mountain Sports in Winter Park, CO seeks a Ski & Snowboard Rental Tech / Winter Shop Associate. Full or part-time seasonal roles run November through end of April, with heavy guest interaction and teamwork in a fast-paced outdoor setting.

Responsibilities include fitting customers, operating rental software, keeping gear clean, assisting with retail, and processing sales. Prior experience is helpful; weekend/holiday shifts required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in hill time and market research with coworkers.

Epic Mountain Sports is a successful, family‑run sports shop in the heart of Winter Park, Colorado, focused on great customer service and providing gear for all of life’s epic adventures. We opened in 2008 and work to help people love and enjoy this area through gear, expertise, patience, and kindness.

About the Role

The outdoor sports industry is a fun, fast‑paced work environment that requires heavy guest interaction, unwavering teamwork, and the ability to constantly adapt to fluid situations. This position will allow for lots of ski time but requires working weekends and holidays. The role reports directly to the Rental and Retail Managers and works side‑by‑side with a new seasonal crew and returning employees.

Responsibilities

• Fit customers with ski & snowboard rental equipment (training & certification provided)
• Greet customers and share information about skiing, snowboarding, cross‑country, snowshoeing, and Winter Park, including the resort and surrounding areas
• Use the ski rental reservation software to assist customers with reservations, changes, availability checks, and equipment assignment, and manage returns in both the shop and the system
• Clean and sanitize rental equipment, restock, replace items daily, and transfer items from drying areas to storage and racking systems
• Assist customers with retail sales, arrange merchandise, stock shelves, and engage with customers
• Ring up sales via the POS system, handle cash and credit card transactions, and respond to phone and e‑mail inquiries
• Perform various housekeeping tasks throughout the shared employee areas and retail and rental spaces as part of closing duties
• Assist with fleet tuning of equipment (training provided)
• Participate in market research by spending time on the hill skiing or riding with friends and coworkers

Qualifications / Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Proficient in English, able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; can speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well with others in a team setting
• Prior experience working in a ski shop is a plus but not required
• Prior customer service experience preferred
• Can lift up to 30 lbs and handle skis/boards with caution around sharp metal objects
• Able to stand and use stairs for 8+ hours a day, spending most time on feet

Employee Housing

Housing may be available for full‑time employees at a rate of $950/month, including utilities. Units are shared living situations with one bedroom and shared bathroom and kitchen/living space with 1–2 other people. Housing is located in Winter Park, with free bus service; a car is not necessary. Housing is intended for one season; employees wishing to stay longer should seek other arrangements.

Additional Information

Full‑time and part‑time positions available. Hours may vary greatly throughout the season, especially during peak periods such as weekends and holidays. Scheduling efforts will be made to keep consistency, but hours cannot always be guaranteed, and time‑off requests during peak periods will not be granted.
