Job summary

Southwest JCB is seeking a Shop Apprentice [Level I] in Commerce City, CO to join the Service department. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, diagnosing equipment, and completing repairs by replacing defective parts while delivering top customer service.

The position offers hands-on training with JCB and non-JCB equipment, with opportunities for skill advancement through online and in-person training. A safety-minded, independent worker is preferred.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years experience repairing and maintaining construction equipment and/or diesel engines.
• Hydraulic, electrical, and drive train experience is a plus.
• Welding (Stick, MIG, TIG) and cutting torch use is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Computer literacy and IT familiarity for documentation.
• Ability to communicate, prioritize and manage time.
• Capable of working independently without direct supervision.
• Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Work in a shop environment on JCB and non-JCB machines.
• Diagnose and repair equipment and components.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance.
• Order parts to complete repairs correctly the first time.
• Document processes for warranty and service procedures.
• Communicate repair progress to Service Manager and customers.
• Operate company vehicles and maintain assets safely.
• Become proficient with diagnostic resources and portals.
• Complete paperwork such as work orders and parts orders.
