Job summary

Birdon America Inc. in Bayou La Batre, AL, seeks a Welding/NDT Supervisor to oversee quality systems for shipyard construction, service, and repair. You will support QA Manager in project plans, audits, and inspections, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

You will lead training, manage the QA program, and work with Program Management to keep quality metrics on schedule while mentoring local QA teams and coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• AWS Certified Weld Inspector required with 5 years experience; college degree a plus.
• ASNT Level II Visual, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Ultrasonic Inspector.
• 10+ years in the shipyard industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop shipyard QA policies and procedures for new construction, service, and repair.
• Ensure compliance with USCG and ABS requirements through WCC Program.
• Provide quality training and track workmanship; write QC procedures and work instructions.
• Represent the shipyard at customer and third-party audits and inspections.
• Maintain Welding and NDT Management Program including WPS/PQRs and NDE procedures.
• Develop local QA teams; train, mentor, and develop personnel.
• Lead QA change management, material receiving inspections, non-conformance tracking, calibration, inspection plans.
