Birdon America Inc. in Portland, CT seeks a Quality Technician – Certified Weld Inspector to serve as a fully qualified technical authority for final weld acceptance, welding program oversight, NDT compliance, and QA program integrity across marine production.

You will review NDT results, apply AWS and NAVSEA standards, oversee welding procedures and ITPs, and maintain audit-ready records while guiding shop personnel toward continuous quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Certified Inspection Authority: final acceptance/rejection of welds per AWS, NAVSEA, customer specs.
• Review and accept or reject NDT results and sign inspection docs.
• Interpret and apply codes, standards, contract requirements and customer specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform final acceptance/rejection of welds per AWS, NAVSEA and customer specs.
• Review NDT results and sign certified inspection documentation.
• Interpret applicable codes and standards to ensure production compliance.
• Verify Welding Procedure Specifications and witness qualification/testing.
• Support ITP development, hold/witness points, and documentation.
