Job summary

Birdon America Inc. seeks a Production Manager in Bayou La Batre, AL to lead safe, disciplined production for complex shipbuilding programs.

You will guide multiple trades, set priorities, and ensure compliance with drawings, specs, safety, and quality requirements. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong planning discipline, and collaboration with program management, planning, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in marine construction, production, engineering, operations, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum 15 years progressive production experience, including 6+ years in shipbuilding.
• Experience with U.S. Government shipbuilding or regulated maritime programs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day execution across fabrication, welding, piping, machinery, electrical, outfitting, coatings, and subcontracted work.
• Translate the production sequence into clear daily and weekly priorities.
• Monitor progress and implement recovery actions as needed.
• Lead production leaders and craft teams; manage manpower and scheduling.
• Support vessel testing, trials, turnover, and delivery activities.
