Job summary

Birdon America Inc. is seeking a full-time Administrative Engineering Manager to be on-site in Bayou La Batre, AL, with responsibility for leading shipyard design activities across programs.

The role reports to the Ship Design Director and will guide the engineering team through the full program lifecycle. You will organize the team, develop schedules and budgets, monitor risks, and ensure milestones are met while maintaining technical quality and strong customer relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related/relevant field.
• At least eight years of experience of shipyard design and construction.
• At least three of those years of experience in a managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Organize engineering team to meet program technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Define, develop, and review detailed schedules, metrics, and management tools to support contract milestones and deliverables.
• Monitor system integration, cost and risks, and supportability of ship design in conversion of contract requirements.
• Monitor program to ensure technical work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
• Provide engineering team leadership to overcome technical challenges.
• Work with engineering leadership to ensure resources are assigned to meet contract milestones and deliverables.
• Serve as technical lead for subcontract management to oversee design execution for all technical scope of major subcontractors.
• Manage design configuration for engineering change including design integration and change adjudication.
• Support development of Engineering Change Proposal
• Responsible for technical relationships with customer and program office.
