National Steel and Shipbuilding Com is seeking a welder to join our shipyard team in San Diego. The role welds shell plating and fabricated components for vessels, tanks, and other structural assemblies according to specifications.

The position involves climbing, heights, and working in confined spaces as required by the trade. The candidate must be able to qualify in FCAW 71T-1 and 811N3, read and follow safety instructions, and work across shifts.

Competenze

• Must qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in three positions.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety instructions and written manuals.
• Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and across shifts.
• Experience or training in welding is required.

Mansioni

• Welds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies.
• Uses carbon electrodes to cut, shape and groove metal.
• May prepare workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating.
• Examines weld sizes of weld beads.
• Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap.
• Other duties as assigned related to the trade.
