Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a flux core arc welder to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated cast and forged components for ship structures. You will work in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, producing high-quality welds and ensuring adherence to specifications.

The role requires reading blueprints, using measuring tools, and complying with OSHA and ABS regulations. Night shifts may be required in a heavy industrial shipyard environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1–3 years welding experience.
  • Requires knowledge of ship terminology, welding symbols, OSHA rules, and ABS regulations.
  • Pass ABS welding tests to be ABS certified.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated cast and forged components according to specifications.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
  • Inspect welds for bead size and adherence to specifications.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using ARC, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding.
  • Produce high-quality welds including watertight penetrations with various materials.
