Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com is seeking a skilled painter to prepare and coat ship components. The role involves surface prep, masking, and applying coatings on interior and exterior shipyard surfaces, following Product Data Sheet guidelines.

The position requires experience with brush and spray painting, ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and to operate high reach equipment. Safety training and SSPC C-12 certification are valued; shift flexibility and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with hand brush and spray painting application or SSPC C-12 Certification.
• Knowledge of surface preparation procedures and paint mixing.
• Ability to read product data sheets and identify coating requirements.
• Able to operate high reach equipment and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Set up tools and equipment at job site for surface preparation.
• Prepare surface to be painted and set up spray equipment.
• Mix paint materials per Product Data Sheet and apply coating.
• Hand paint and/or spray paint; inspect for touch-ups and quality.
• Perform housekeeping and cleanup in work areas; operate high reach equipment in elevated areas.
• Follow safety instructions and observe hazards in the shipyard environment.
