Job summary

Edison Chouest Offshore in Tampa is seeking a full-time Blaster/Painter to prepare and finish metal surfaces for coating applications. You will blast surfaces, apply coatings, and ensure proper masking where required, following safety standards.

The ideal candidate has four or more years of blasting and painting experience in a shipyard environment and can operate ventilators, exhaust units, and painting equipment to achieve specified results. This is an on-site role in Tampa.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a shipyard environment with blasting and painting
• At least four years of blasting and painting experience
• Knowledge of setting up ventilators, exhaust units, and ladders prior to painting
• Ability to operate equipment valves to regulate the pressure and composition of abrasive material
• Experience examining finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
• Ability to mask specified areas of objects to protect them from blasting

Responsibilities

• Abrasively blast surfaces of metal or hard objects to remove scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt to a specified finish
• Apply paint or coatings by spraying, brushing, or rolling onto surfaces
• Blast surfaces in enclosed and open areas using proper protective clothing and equipment
• Mix paint components and thin them to achieve proper consistency and color as specifications require
• Lay out and paint insignias, symbols, designs or other markings as needed
