Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking a Painter 4 (Repair) in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities include surface preparation, masking, and applying coatings to ship interiors and exteriors. You will mix materials per Product Data Sheet, inspect painted areas, and perform touch-ups as required.

The role requires 1–3 years of painting experience or SSPC C-12 certification, knowledge of coating prep procedures, and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. Shift flexibility is needed.

Qualifications

• Must have 1–3 years of hand brush and spray painting experience or SSPC C-12 certification.
• Knowledge of surface preparation procedures and paint mixing.
• Ability to read and understand Product Data Sheets and identify coating requirements.
• Able to operate high reach equipment and work at heights.
• Must read and follow safety instructions and warnings.

Responsibilities

• Set up tools and equipment at job site for surface preparation.
• Prepare surface to be painted.
• Set up spray paint equipment for coating application.
• Mix paints per PDS and apply coating.
• Hand or spray paint in designated areas and inspect for touch-ups.
• Maintain housekeeping in work areas during and after tasks.
• Operate high reach equipment for hard-to-reach areas.
• Assist with cross-trade tasks as needed.
