Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking a skilled painter to prep and coat shipyard surfaces, using brushes or spray equipment. You will mix coatings per the Product Data Sheet and apply paint to interior and exterior areas of ships and facilities.

The role requires reading technical datasheets, working at heights, and operating high-reach gear. Safety compliance and ability to work various shifts are essential components of this position.

Qualifications

• Experience with brush and spray painting applications.
• Knowledge of surface preparation procedures and paint mixing.
• Ability to read and understand the Product Data Sheet.
• Identify coating requirements and equipment for application.

Responsibilities

• Set up tools and equipment to perform surface preparation.
• Prepare surfaces to be painted and set up spray equipment.
• Mix paints according to the Product Data Sheet and apply coatings.
• Hand or spray paint in designated areas and inspect for touch‑ups.
• Perform housekeeping and operate high reach equipment.
• Move scrap, clean work areas, and assist as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned relevant to the trade.
