Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is hiring an Outside Machinist to install and test major ship components. The role requires a machining certificate or diploma and the ability to handle demanding physical tasks on ships in various stages of construction or repair.

Candidates should be prepared for outdoor work, heights, confined spaces, and a broad toolset; training and growth opportunities are provided within the shipbuilding career path.

Formación

• Must have a certificate or diploma in machining or related field from a recognized program.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
• Must be able to do overhead work.
• Must be able to work at extreme heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work outdoors.

Responsabilidades

• Install, groom and test the ship’s major mechanical components and systems.
• Work on commercial or naval ships in various stages of construction, overhaul or repair.
• Operate a wide variety of tools and machinery used in machining and maintenance.
