Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard is seeking a Safety Specialist to ensure compliance with all safety procedures and environmental standards on site in Philadelphia. The role focuses on conducting formal and informal inspections, identifying hazards, and documenting findings to prevent incidents.

You will collaborate with supervisors and production teams to implement practical safety solutions, manage permits, and participate in emergency response activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in HSE-related field OR 1–2 years of equivalent practical safety experience.
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in Shipyards, construction or closely related industry preferred
• Experience as an emergency services responder a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Conduct formal and informal inspections of shipyard work sites to monitor compliance with safety standards, identify hazards, and document findings.
• Collaborate with supervisors and employees to develop practical solutions for safety and environmental concerns.
• Assist production teams in establishing and maintaining proper lighting and ventilation.
• Perform daily housekeeping inspections of shops, docks, and vessels under construction.
• Test and certify confined spaces prior to entry and throughout shifts to ensure a safe working environment.
