Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia is seeking a Safety and Environmental Coordinator to lead safety programs, enforce OSHA rules, and monitor site compliance. You will perform inspections, train employees on safe practices, organize safety meetings, and develop weekly safety topics for distribution.

The position requires a 2- to 4-year degree in safety or a related field, 3–5 years in a dedicated safety role in construction or heavy industry, and the ability to participate in the Shipyard

Qualifications

• A 2- or 4-year college degree in a Safety or Environmental field strongly desired, but practical field experience may suffice.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a dedicated safety position in construction or closely related industry
• Emergency responder experience is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Ensures safety procedures and regulations are followed across Hanwha Philly Shipyard
• Performs inspections of work sites to monitor compliance and identify hazards
• Provides safety training and instruction to employees and supervisors
• Organizes safety meetings and develops weekly safety topics/briefs
• Conducts investigations of incidents to determine causes and preventive measures
• Assists in administering PPE programs, medical surveillance, workers’ compensation, etc.
• Performs duties of a Shipyard Competent Person (SYC) and may write hot work permits
• Participates in Shipyard Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities and training
• Supports Hazardous Waste Management program including inspections and record-keeping
• Other related duties as assigned
