Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard seeks a Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to uphold safety standards across our heavy industrial site in Philadelphia. You will conduct inspections, deliver training, and manage safety programs including PPE, medical surveillance and workers’ compensation.

The ideal candidate holds a 2- or 4-year degree in safety or a related field with 3–5 years in a dedicated safety role in construction or a related industry; emergency responder experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• A degree in Safety or Environmental field is strongly desired; practical field experience may suffice.
• 3–5 years of experience in a dedicated safety position in construction or closely related industry.
• Emergency responder experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform safety inspections of work sites to identify hazards.
• Prepare and deliver safety training to employees and supervisors.
• Organize meetings to address safety issues.
• Develop weekly safety topics and briefs.
• Conduct investigations of accidents and near-miss incidents.
• Assist in PPE programs, medical surveillance, and workers’ compensation administration.
• Perform duties of SYC and issue hot work permits when needed.
• Serve on the Shipyard Emergency Response Team and respond to emergencies.
• Meet physical demands, including respirator use.
• May assist hazardous waste management program.
• Other related duties as required.
