Austal USA in Mobile, AL seeks a skilled Quality/Dimensional Inspector to help ensure ship components meet precise dimensions using survey instruments. You will apply photogrammetry, total station and laser trackers to verify accuracy during fabrication and assembly.

You will monitor as-built dimensions, drive improvement projects with Production and Engineering, and mentor teams to reduce rework while maintaining safety and compliance.

Competenze

• 2+ years experience with industrial measurement and survey instruments; 3 years fabrication of steel/aluminum structures preferred.
• Internal applicants may have reduced experience requirements.
• Willing to work outside regular hours.
• Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry.
• MS Word/Excel/Access or similar statistical package proficiency.
• Drafting/CAD experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.

Mansioni

• Determine accuracy of shipbuilding using survey instruments and alignment fundamentals.
• Monitor/verify as-built dimensional quality during fabrication, module assembly and final assembly.
• Ensure parts are manufactured to dimensions and tolerances to minimize rework.
• Perform measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total station, laser trackers or other 3-D instruments.
• Identify, drive, mentor & implement projects to improve overall production quality.
