Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a Quality Inspection/Accuracy Control support role. You will perform VT inspections across the facility, verify welds, structures and components, and assist inspectors with daily tasks in a fast-paced shipyard environment.

The position requires 1 year of related maritime or welding experience, plus training in Visual Testing Level II; candidates with NDT certificates or Metrology/AutoCAD background are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in maritime, welding, or surveying, or related Quality/Accuracy role.
• Must have Visual Testing Level II training per ASNT-TC-1A.
• NDT certification or education in Metrology, AutoCAD, or Geological Surveying preferred.
• Willingness to learn new NDT methods as directed.
• Basic shipyard knowledge and quality principles.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions clearly.
• Strong mathematical and measurement skills (Imperial and Metric).

Responsibilities

• Perform VT inspection duties across the facility, verifying welds, structures, and components.
• Perform measurements, material preparation, and cleanup.
• Conduct in-process product assessments and document surface defects requiring correction or providing dimensional assessment.
• Audit quality and accuracy related processes.
• Handle administrative and document tasks.
• Support inspectors as directed.
• Work any shift.
