Shipping Team Lead 2nd Shift

Position Overview

The Team Lead will perform as a proactive, "change agent" in the manufacturing facility, providing support and direction to team members. Responsibilities include leading, motivating, and training team members to achieve production goals, improve skills, and foster teamwork; ensuring safety, quality, and sanitation compliance; serving as a technical and business resource; leading continuous improvement initiatives; and building effective relationships to promote innovation and cooperation.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Lead the shipping/warehouse department in safety, quality, and performance.
2. Assess and coordinate training needs for production team members, including safety and quality standards.
3. Evaluate staffing needs and manage resources to maximize output.
4. Coach team members, guide development, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
5. Manage daily scheduling and resource allocation.
6. Maintain positive member relations and conduct team/pre-shift meetings.
7. Complete daily reports and shift paperwork.
8. Communicate effectively with team members.
9. Lead process improvement initiatives.
10. Monitor progress in safety, quality, cost, and service; develop improvement plans.
11. Create a team environment, manage conflicts, and resolve issues.
12. Model safety and professionalism.
13. Perform administrative duties within the shipping department.
14. Operate prime movers and forklifts to support shipping and blending departments.
15. Manage inventory to ensure FIFO is used.
16. Maintain a presence on the floor daily.
17. Communicate shipping/receiving needs with Johnsonville Transportation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of secondary languages is a plus.
• Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to lead by example.
• Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to act as a change agent and innovate.

Location: Holton, KS
Member Status: Full Time
Job Classification: $28.19/hour
Hours: 2nd Shift, with potential for shift rotation for cross-training and development.
