Job summary

Rite Aid is seeking a shipping supervisor to coordinate transportation and oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the shipping team. You will review shipping notices, bills of lading, and orders to determine priorities and methods to meet schedules, while ensuring accuracy of documentation.

You will act as the JDE expert, maintain MS Office usage, and guide 8‑10 shipping staff. Strong reading, writing, math, and communications skills are essential to ensure on‑time delivery and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 3–5 years related experience, or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing procedures and production operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Mathematical skills: rate, ratio, percent, etc.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense and solve problems.
  • Physically capable of warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transportation for product delivery by reviewing notices and documents to meet schedules.
  • Conduct post-shipment research to facilitate tracking and address issues.
  • Review carrier routings for alignment with shipment dimensions and weight.
  • Consolidate orders when applicable.
  • Serve as primary contact for carriers and internal/external customers regarding delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate all transportation for product delivery by reviewing shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Conduct post‑shipment research to facilitate tracking requests, verify shipment dimensions/weights and proper description selection and address any issues that may arise.
  • Review carrier routings for agreement between mode of selected carrier and specific shipment dimensions and weight.
  • Review orders for possible product consolidation between Opcos.
  • Serve as primary contact for carriers, internal Customer Service Representatives and external customers regarding product delivery.
  • Oversee policies/procedures and documentation of the waiting‑to‑ship inventory, including the proper creation of shipping releases, bills of lading and shipment notifications required by customer‑selected 3PLs.
  • Act as the JDE expert on all day‑to‑day shipping related functions; maintain daily use of JDE and Microsoft Office, including creation of BOLs, ship confirm transactions, and generating/reviewing reports in MS Excel/Word.
  • Understand USMC and international compliance regulations and work with Corporate International and Traffic departments to create and ensure accuracy of export documentation.
  • Plan, assign, and direct the work of shipping employees to include loading, recording, posting customer orders, and dock sweeps.
  • Ensure “Best in Class” on‑time delivery performance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has direct supervision responsibility for 8‑10 shipping employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing procedures, material identities, part relationships and production department functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands: regular use of hand to finger, handle or feel; required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and depth perception.
