Shipping Supervisor – Greenfield, IN
Responsible for managing the company’s shipping and receiving operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy. This role involves overseeing a team of shipping clerks and stagers to guarantee adherence to all shipping protocols and timely processing of shipments.
What You Will Do
- Oversee and manage daily shipping and receiving operations, supervising a team of up to 40 full‑time and temporary employees to ensure compliance with standard procedures and operational efficiency.
- Administer employee timecards using Kronos, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of hours worked.
- Utilize the MDI process to audit packing operations, ensuring no items remain in packing for more than 48 hours.
- Manage the RFGM process and conduct daily audits to ensure RFGM inventory is cleared by the end of each shift.
- Ensure “Ship Drop” inventory is processed within two hours daily to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Ship and stage the required number of lines to meet OTP (On‑Time Performance) and OTA (On‑Time Arrival) daily goals.
- Achieve OTP/OTA daily targets and monthly financial objectives in alignment with AOP (Annual Operating Plan) goals.
- Coordinate with first‑shift teams to ensure seamless shipping and receiving processes, and work closely with first‑shift receiving leaders to ensure all materials are received and moved on the same day they arrive.
- Maintain strict no‑partial‑line shipping policy; partial orders are acceptable, but individual lines must not be split.
- Maintain daily MDI metrics, review takt sheets, and provide coaching and training to address underperformance.
- Manage the PO receipt process, ensuring all purchase orders are received and recorded on the same day.
- Maintain 5S standards within the department and on the LTL pad, ensuring the receiving dock is cleared daily.
- Oversee the BOL (Bill of Lading) process to ensure every skid has the correct BOL attached for transport.
- Onboard and coach Team Leaders on fundamental leadership skills to support team development.
- Manage Fast Track shipments with OTA compliance rate, ensuring timely delivery.
- Always adhere to company policies and procedures, communicate effectively with internal departments and external partners, and identify and implement efficient shipping procedures and strategies.
- Address shipping and receiving concerns promptly, escalating significant issues when necessary, and monitor staff performance against organizational objectives while maintaining accurate process records.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, logistics, materials and supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Experience with a fast‑paced manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
