OverviewWe are seeking a highly organized and experienced Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee our multi shift shipping operations in a food processing facility that is USDA regulated. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive retail and food service distribution management experience, and a solid understanding of logistics and inventory control. This role is vital in ensuring efficient shipping and receiving processes, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing warehouse workflows. The Shipping Supervisor will lead a team of shipping staff, coordinate shipping activities, and implement process improvements to enhance overall operational efficiency. The ideal candidate must be able to handle a fast-paced, deadline and customer service driven environment.DutiesSupervise daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of orders. This includes all products to customers (including exports) and compliance with company and customer requirements, including order filling requirements with sales departments and on time deliveries.Coordinate with inventory management systems to track stock levels, manage inventory control, and ensure proper materials handling.Operate and oversee the use of material handling equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners, ensuring safety protocols are followed according to OSHA standards.Lead team management efforts by providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to shipping staff.Implement process improvement initiatives using lean management principles to streamline shipping operations.Oversee the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) to monitor shipments, inventory movements, and order accuracy.Monitors the process for compliance with regulatory requirements, food safety, quality and legal aspects.Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to shipping operations, heavy lifting, and materials handling.Collaborate with logistics providers to coordinate distribution schedules and optimize shipping routes.Maintain accurate documentation for shipping & receiving activities and prepare reports on shipping performance metrics.Conduct regular safety audits and enforce OSHA standards to promote a safe working environment.Maintain strict adherence to HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and USDA regulations to ensure food safety and legal complianceManages budget, costs and inventory controlVerifies labor hours and payroll report accuracyOther job duties as assigned by direct manager or upper management.SkillsComprehensive operating knowledge of food service and retail distribution.Beef processing experience.Proven experience in shipping distribution, logistics, or cold storage center operations with a focus on shipping & receiving.3+ years of working experience in shipping management.Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP standards, GMP practices, and safety protocol adherence is essentialStrong leadership skills with prior shipping supervisor or team management experience.Proficiency in inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office Suite.Skilled in process improvement methodologies such as lean management to enhance operational efficiency.Experience in operating material handling equipment including forklifts (sit down and stand-up) and other heavy lifting tools; forklift certification is preferred.Knowledge of inventory control practices, materials handling procedures, and OSHA safety standards.Excellent managerial communication skills for effective team leadership and coordination across departments.Ability to manage shipping operations efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.Familiarity with RF scanners, inventory management systems, and logistics software for real-time tracking and reporting.Excellent communication and analytical skillsWritten and Oral English communication skillsSpanish communications skills ideal but not requiredKnowledge of Adage ERP and Assistics inventory systems ideal but not requiredThis position offers an opportunity to lead a dynamic team within a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence in shipping distribution operations.Western Valley Meat Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
