UFP Industries in Thornton, CA is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Lead to coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, prepare paperwork, and ensure accuracy under supervision.

You will schedule outbound loads, verify documents, use forklift, and maintain records; benefits include medical, 401(k), paid vacation, and education reimbursement.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 6 months of shipping/receiving experience.
• Familiarity with DOT concepts, regulations, and procedures.
• Experience with proper loading techniques and weight limits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate and schedule all outbound loads with sales and production.
• Determine loading order and placement of product.
• Verify shipping documents and record discrepancies.
• Set up loads with outside freight carriers.
• Route orders and dispatch carriers with delivery instructions.
• Ensure all paperwork meets UFP and DOT requirements.
• Document shortages and inform sales/admin.
• Handle tracing/expediting orders per requests.
• Maintain records of shipments and inbound/outbound activity.
• Assist with loading/unloading material as needed.
• Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Lead coordinates the incoming and outgoing shipment of material. Prepares paperwork and material for shipment and reviews paperwork of incoming material. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates and schedules all outbound loads and coordinates with sales and production
• Determines proper loading order and placement of product
• Verifies shipping documents and records any discrepancies
• Set up all loads to be shipped by common carrier with outside freight companies
• Coordinates routing of orders and dispatches carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with the customer receiving times
• Ensures all internal/external paperwork meets all UFP as well as DOT regulations and procedures
• Documents any shortage on orders, investigates reasons for occurrence, and informs sales and admin of the shortage.
• Takes and acts upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders
• Maintains proper documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments
• May assist loading and unloading material from trucks or carts
• Prepares various reports and correspondence as required
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma/GED
• Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related area
• Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures
• Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species
• Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process
• Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation & Benefit Information

Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00 an hour dependent on experience*

• pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
