Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Lead in Thornton, CA. The role coordinates incoming and outbound shipments, prepares and reviews paperwork, and follows established guidelines under supervision.

You will schedule outbound loads, verify documents, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Proficiency with Excel/Word/Outlook is required, and forklift licensing is preferred. Training available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related area.
• Working knowledge of DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of loading techniques, weight limits, and company procedures.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
• Forklift driver licensing completed.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule outbound loads with sales and production.
• Determine loading order and placement of products.
• Verify shipping documents and record discrepancies.
• Set up all loads for common carrier shipments with outside freight companies.
• Route orders and dispatch carrier with delivery instructions per customer receiving times.
• Ensure paperwork complies with DOT regulations and company procedures.
• Document shortages, investigate causes, and inform sales/admin.
• Handle tracing and expediting orders as needed.
• Maintain records of incoming/outgoing shipments.
• Assist with loading/unloading material as required.
• Prepare reports and correspondence as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Lead coordinates the incoming and outgoing shipment of material. Prepares paperwork and material for shipment and reviews paperwork of incoming material. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates and schedules all outbound loads and coordinates with sales and production
• Determines proper loading order and placement of product
• Verifies shipping documents and records any discrepancies
• Set up all loads to be shipped by common carrier with outside freight companies
• Coordinates routing of orders and dispatches carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with the customer receiving times
• Ensures all internal/external paperwork meets all UFP as well as DOT regulations and procedures
• Documents any shortage on orders, investigates reasons for occurrence, and informs sales and admin of the shortage.
• Takes and acts upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders
• Maintains proper documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments
• May assist loading and unloading material from trucks or carts
• Prepares various reports and correspondence as required
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related area
• Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures
• Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species
• Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process
• Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation & Benefit Information

Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00 an hour dependent on experience*

*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay:

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
