Job summary

States Logistics Services, Inc. is seeking a Shipping Clerk to coordinate clerical tasks in the shipping department. You will ensure shipping documents are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with vendor and regulatory requirements.

Duties include checking in drivers, verifying purchases, ensuring labels and tickets, printing bills, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The shift is Monday–Friday 2pm–10:30pm with overtime as needed and pay of $22–$25 per hour plus a $1 shift

Qualifications

• Experience in similar logistics roles is strongly preferred.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are required.

Responsibilities

• Checks in drivers, looks up purchase orders, and directs them to dock doors for unloading.
• Verifies unloaded products against purchase orders to detect overages, shortages, or damages.
• Ensures proper labels and tickets are applied before shipping.
• Prints bills and assists in resolving discrepancies.
• Collects documentation and routes to the proper records unit.
• Answers incoming calls from drivers and gives directions to the facility.
• Oversees pallet control, participates in cycle counts, and helps maintain inventory accuracy.
• Conducts yard and dock checks.
• Updates inbound and outbound schedules accurately and timely.

Job description

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating the clerical tasks for the shipping department. The daily functions are to ensure shipping documents are processed with accuracy, on time, and in full compliance with all vendor and regulatory requirements, including all product and shipping container labeling requirements.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday 2pm-10:30pm
Some overtime will be required based on volume.
Compensation: $22 - $25/hour based on experience with $1 shift differential

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Checks in drivers, looks up purchase orders provided by drivers and directs them to the appropriate dock doors for unloading of product.
• Verifies list of products unloaded and recorded by forklift driver against a purchase order to determine if all products were received or if there are discrepancies (overages, shortages, damages).
• Ensures proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping
• Prints all bills and assists in resolving any discrepancies.
• Collects all documentation and routes to the proper record-keeping unit.
• Answers incoming calls from drivers and gives directions to the facility.
• May direct and oversee the pallet control and exchange program, participate in cycle counts and help maintain inventory accuracy.
• Conducts yard and dock checks.
• Updates inbound and outbound schedules accurately and in a timely manner

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail, quick problem solver.
• This job requires attention to detail, verifying paperwork, ensuring the right load is given to the right driver, the paperwork is completed accurately and that emails are responded to in a timely manner.
• Experience in similar logistics roles is strongly preferred (dispatcher, Shipping and Receiving clerks, Customer Service for a 3PL, etc.)
• Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are a must.
