Primary Function
Under limited supervision, performs all required duties to ship and receive a wide variety of products, parts, and other materials following established methods and procedures, and maintains all related records and reports.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Check finished goods entering the department for completeness of order, defective parts, and process according to established practice.
- Select completed shipments and prepare all necessary shipping and related papers and documents; weigh and calculate shipping charges.
- Extend packing slip and enclose with other designated papers and documents; perform other duties related to shipping details as prescribed. Consult supervisor on unusual shipments. Maintain inventory control files.
- Notify carriers of pick-up instructions; trace shipments for customers. Work with customer resident engineers in shipment preparation.
- Receive incoming materials, supplies, parts, and other items following established practice. Assist in unloading, check correctness, and prepare related reports. Notify supervisor of discrepancies.
- Maintain inventories of dock milestone buckets (source, too early, scrap-missing, sick bay, finished goods, etc.).
- Detect and report faulty documentation and unusual conditions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand HAZCOM labeling and documentation for hazardous materials. Read Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Audit records and record-keeping practices.
- May pick up and/or deliver products, materials, parts, or mail.
- Perform cost analysis for transportation options.
- Maintain inventory of packing materials and boxes.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Work overtime as needed at the end of fiscal months.
Special Skills and Physical Requirements
- Prepare shipping documents, maintain records, determine charges, and pack materials. Use judgment to follow routines and instructions.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 35 lbs throughout the shift.
- Maintain continuous attention in handling forms, documents, packing, and parts.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Knowledge of investment casting process and inspection criteria preferred.
- Familiarity with export compliance and ITAR regulations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift/maneuver 35 lbs objects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
