Job summary

Worthington Steel is hiring for a Shipping & Receiving Afternoon Shift in Cleveland, OH. The role focuses on safe, accurate receiving, storage, staging, and shipment of materials, with forklift and crane operation, and attention to inventory accuracy. Training is provided; eligibility for benefits starts Day 1.

You will work a 2nd shift after an initial paid training period, with opportunities to grow within a people-first, safety-driven manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to accurately receive, store, stage, and ship materials.
• Knowledge of inventory control practices and shipping documentation.
• Computer proficiency; ability to learn Oracle and other shipping applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead with safety in every task.
• Load and unload trucks efficiently.
• Pick, stage, and pack customer orders for shipment.
• Build and load outbound trucks to meet delivery schedules.
• Receive incoming materials and complete accurate system transactions.
• Store materials in proper inventory locations.
• Verify product accuracy, quantities, and shipping documentation.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through proper handling and paperwork.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and aligned with quality standards.
• Support the team with additional duties as needed.

Pay & Benefits

• Starting at $20.00/hour, with higher pay for manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or equipment experience
• $1.50/hour shift differential

Schedule

• Paid first-shift training (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) for approximately 90 days
• Transition to 2nd Shift: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
• 8-hour shifts with a paid lunch

• Ability to accurately receive, store, stage, and ship materials
• Knowledge of inventory control practices
• Clear communication and solid organizational skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic math skills for inventory and documentation
• Computer proficiency; ability to learn Oracle and other shipping applications
• Problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet shipping deadlines
• Forklift/crane certification or ability to obtain
• Valid driver's license if driving duties are required
• Ability to perform physical work in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of OSHA requirements and company safety procedures
• Commitment to continuous improvement, 6S, and waste reduction

Preferred Background

• Shipping & receiving, warehouse, or material handling experience
• Manufacturing experience
• Forklift or overhead crane operation
• Experience with inventory or ERP systems
• Reliable transportation (there is no public transportation or pedestrian access)
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
