Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX is seeking a Manufacturing Helper to support production on the plant floor, manage packaging, and assist with inventory. The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year in manufacturing, basic computer skills, and forklift/crane familiarity; overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience in manufacturing.
• Good communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Forklift experience is a plus; training on forklift is available.
• Crane experience is a plus; training on crane is available.
• Flexible with overtime and weekends when needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly.
• Able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and understand manufacturing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Assist CPU customers.
• Upload loading photos.
• Assist with location job orders on the production floor.
• Utilize crating and packaging resources to secure parts for transport.
• Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment safely.
• Monitor and compare actual vs maximum trailer load weights.
• Assist with inventory counts as required.
• Support continuous improvement activities on the shop floor.
• Inspect work for defects according to Quality Systems.

Base Pay: $17.50 per hour

Schedule Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, hours may vary depending on operations

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Assist CPU customers
• Uploads loading photos
• Assist with location job order on the production floor
• Employs a range of crating and packaging resources, including metal bands and protective coverings, to ensure parts are securely fastened and safeguarded during transport.
• Proficient in operating forklifts and other lifting equipment.
• Responsible for each lift, deciding when to check actual vs maximum allowable trailer load.
• Assists with inventory counts as required
• Maintains practices for continuous improvement within the work area.
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
• Willing/able to work overtime
• Ability read, write, and follow posted schedules
• May be assigned other projects or tasks by the team leader.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
• Good Communication Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
• Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
• Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
• Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environmentSome knowledge of a manufacturing environment.
