Job summary

BDI Express is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee the shipping team within the Warehouse department in Cleveland, OH. This full-time role ensures accurate and timely shipments, maintains safety standards, and drives productivity on the shift.

You will manage staffing, coordinate processes, and coach staff to meet daily targets while aligning operations with company policies and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of warehouse or distribution experience.
• Minimum 3 years of team leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and with transportation providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hiring, training, development, scheduling, performance, and day-to-day activities of shipping staff.
• Ensure staffing coverage during normal hours of operation.
• Coordinate the effective use of automated and manual processes, systems, and material-handling equipment.
• Lead, motivate, and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity and targets are met.
• Communicate company policies, values, and vision to employees and ensure daily decisions align with goals.
• Conduct team meetings to communicate priorities and provide updates.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback to support development.
• Liaise between warehouse operations and transportation providers to ensure timely shipments.
• Coordinate consolidation and shipment of goods.
• Perform hands-on work in shipping and order-consolidation as needed.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, stored, and operated safely.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
• Monitor operations to achieve productivity and service objectives.
• Identify issues and implement solutions to maintain efficient flow.
• Manage and maintain inventory levels of shipping supplies.
• Monitor cleanliness and organization of the shipping area.
• Cross-train in supervision of other warehouse areas for coverage.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
