Job summary

Air Lift Company in Lansing, MI is seeking a 2nd Shift Shipping Coordinator to lead the Shipping team through daily order fulfillment, monitor on-time performance, and ensure accuracy and efficiency. You will direct daily activities, adjust priorities, and communicate expectations to team members to maintain a steady workflow that supports customer demand.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 3+ years in shipping or logistics, and at least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, distribution, or a related manufacturing environment.
• At least 1 year of experience providing lead, trainer, or informal supervisory responsibilities preferred.
• Strong understanding of shipping and warehouse processes.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and changing workloads effectively.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to evaluate staffing and workload requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to train and cross-train employees on processes, equipment, and systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the status of customer orders and compare department performance against on-time delivery goals.
• Evaluate daily production and shipping workload to ensure meeting customer demand.
• Identify delays or workflow issues and take action to keep orders moving toward completion.
• Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and order fulfillment.
• Utilize reports and tools to track and maximize department performance.
• Create and maintain lists to support freight order picking and daily shipping.
• Evaluate staffing levels based on orders and workload.
• Communicate staffing concerns and required resources or cross-training.
• Distribute work effectively among team members based on workload and priorities.
• Ensure team members understand assignments and have resources to complete work.
