Job summary

Air Lift Company in Lansing, MI is seeking a 2nd shift Shipping Coordinator to oversee daily shipping activities, ensure on-time delivery, and support a fast-paced team.

You will monitor order status, prioritize work, coach staff, and optimize workflow using Agility, Macola, and Excel to meet customer demands.

This role requires 3+ years shipping experience, leadership skills, and strong problem-solving to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a dynamic warehouse.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, distribution, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing lead, trainer, or informal supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • Strong understanding of shipping and warehouse processes.
  • Ability to train and cross-train employees on processes, equipment, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the status of customer orders and compare department performance against established on-time delivery goals.
  • Evaluate daily production and shipping workload to determine whether the team is producing and shipping at a pace sufficient to meet customer demand.
  • Identify potential delays or workflow issues and take appropriate action to keep orders moving toward completion.
  • Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and order fulfillment.
  • Utilize available reports, spreadsheets, and other tools to track and maximize department performance.
  • Create and maintain lists to support freight order picking and other daily shipping activities.
  • Evaluate staffing levels based on current and anticipated customer orders and departmental workload.
  • Communicate staffing concerns and identify when additional resources, reassignment, or cross-training may be necessary.
  • Distribute work effectively among team members based on workload, priorities, due dates, and work areas.
  • Ensure team members understand their assignments and have the resources necessary to complete their work effectively.
  • Review and prioritize work orders based on customer due dates, shipping requirements, and designated work areas.
  • Ensure work orders are being processed in the appropriate sequence to support on-time delivery.
  • Monitor the progress of assigned work and adjust priorities as business needs change.
  • Communicate changes in priorities and expectations clearly to team members.
  • Train team members on Shipping department processes, procedures, equipment, and systems.
  • Provide cross-training to ensure adequate coverage of essential department functions.
  • Reinforce proper processes and work practices through coaching, instruction, and hands-on support.
  • Identify training needs and communicate areas where additional development may be beneficial.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for team members and assist employees in developing the skills necessary to perform their responsibilities effectively.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily activities of the Shipping team to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established on-time delivery goals. This position provides day-to-day direction to team members, monitors workload and staffing needs, prioritizes work orders, and helps ensure employees have the training, resources, and information necessary to perform their responsibilities effectively. The Shipping Coordinator serves as a key resource for the department and is expected to have a strong understanding of all shipping processes, equipment, and applicable software systems. This individual must be able to make sound decisions, communicate expectations clearly, identify and resolve problems, and maintain a productive workflow that supports customer demand.

What You'll Do:

What You'll Bring:
