Job summary

Sonoco in Hartselle, AL is seeking a Material Handler (Shipping) on the 2nd shift to move and organize raw materials and finished reels. You will work with production, shipping and inventory teams to ensure materials are delivered safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include load/unload with forklifts, maintain 5S standards, document quantities, and inspect equipment daily; physical requirements include lifting 50 pounds and standing 8 hours. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations is a plus.
• Able to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment.
• Collaborate with production team members to facilitate product/material flow and achieve critical line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and department, as well as 5S standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation of quantities loaded or unloaded.
• Execute all tasks safely and efficiently.
• Conduct a daily inspection of the material handling equipment.
