Responsibilities

  • Oversees shipping and mail services with inventory management and distribution.
  • Receives and delivers mail and packages for the UW‑Milwaukee campus.
  • Uses handheld scanner to confirm deliveries and MS Excel for data entry.
  • Processes outgoing campus mail with meter machines and proper postage.
  • Troubleshoots shipping issues and assists customers with inquiries.
  • Trains and guides student workers; supports Stores and Work Order Center.
  • Prepare mail permits and assist with customs forms for international shipments.

Job Duties

Coordinates and executes shipping and mail services for a unit including inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages for the UW-Milwaukee campus with an emphasis on superb customer service.

Key Job Responsibilities

20% -Oversees incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsible for (package/mail) inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages and freight.

  • Sort, deliver, pick-up regular and intercampus mail.
  • Pick up USPS mail and supplies at the Central US Post Office

20% - Maintains records and manifests regarding incoming packages, location, and date of delivery

  • Use handheld scanner to produce barcoded delivery confirmations
  • Use MS Excel to enter data for barcoding program
  • Prepare mail permits, present for inspection, and complete.

20%- Determines policies and procedures related to mail and package receipt and delivery

  • Use meter machines to process outgoing campus mail
  • Referencepostage chartsto record proper postage for departmentalchargebacks.

20% - Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other records

  • Process packages withComputerized shipping software for all couriers
  • Prepare customs forms for international packages
  • Use mailing lists to process multi-packagepostage
  • Run reports from shipping software for monthly billing

15%-Troubleshoots shipping issues and customer complaints

  • Process notificationsandassistin customer communicationsfor delivery and pick ups
  • Investigate and troubleshoot lost ormisdirectedmail items.
  • Check group email to help customers find packages andanswer questions

5% -Other DutiesasAssigned

  • Training and guiding student workers
  • Support Stores and Work Order Center to meet operational needs
Compensation:

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour (Salary will be determined by finalist's knowledge, skills, and experience)

Required Qualifications:
  • Evidence of ability to liftand move objectsup to 40lbs.
  • Willingness tooperate(or learn tooperate) a box truck
  • Mustpossessa valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimumrequirements for driving on state business as detailed here:https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
