Job summary

Canfor in El Dorado, AR is seeking a hands-on Shipping Lead to oversee daily operations in the shipping department. You will lead a crew, ensure safety, and coordinate with maintenance and other teams to meet production goals and maintain high safety standards. This role is full-time, Monday through Friday, first shift.

You will coach staff, train new employees, monitor product quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while fostering teamwork and strong on-the-floor leadership.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in shipping.
• Previous experience in a lead hand or informal leadership role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors and support corrective actions.
• Assist in coordinating daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and output targets.
• Provide on-the-floor leadership, coaching, and support to team members.
• Help train new employees and support skill development across the crew.
• Communicate effectively with the Shipping Supervisor, maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
• Monitor product quality and assist with troubleshooting equipment or process issues.
• Support the implementation of operational initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
