Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prioritize daily shipping activities to ensure orders are processed, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, training, mentoring, and work direction to Shipping Coordinators and new team members.
  • Monitor team workload, productivity, quality, and adherence to procedures and compliance.
  • Coordinate carrier scheduling and transportation activities with third-party logistics providers.
  • Resolve complex shipping, inventory, documentation, transportation, and customer service issues, escalating as needed.
  • Oversee shipping transactions, inventory activities, shipment tracking, and reporting through ERP systems.
  • Review shipping documentation and inventory records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead inventory control activities including cycle counts, reconciliations, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Sales, Production, Customer Service, Warehouse, and management to support objectives.
  • Assist with customer claims, quality investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote compliance with food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.

River Point Farms is seeking an experienced Shipping Lead to join our local onion processing team!

Summary:

The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping operations and provides day-to-day leadership for the Shipping team. This role prioritizes workflow, coordinates departmental activities, trains team members, monitors operational performance, and serves as the primary operational resource for shipping-related issues. The Shipping Lead ensures shipping efficiency, inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement while acting as the departmental lead during assigned shifts and in the absence of management.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily shipping activities to ensure orders are processed, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, training, mentoring, and work direction to Shipping Coordinators and new team members.
  • Monitor team workload, productivity, quality, and adherence to established procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate carrier scheduling, transportation activities, and issue resolution with third-party logistics providers.
  • Resolve complex shipping, inventory, documentation, transportation, and customer service issues, escalating concerns as appropriate.

  • Serve as the departmental lead during assigned shifts and in the absence of management.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related field.
  • Forklift certified or willing to obtain certification as required by location.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of shipping operations, inventory management, transportation coordination, and warehouse processes.
  • Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or directing the work of others.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and lead operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.
