Job summary

Smalley Steel Ring Company in Lake Zurich, IL is hiring for a Full Time Shipping/Distribution role. You will operate forklifts to move outgoing orders and coordinate with shipping, receiving and inventory to ensure accurate, on-time outbound shipments.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading trucks, maintaining a safe loading dock, and inspecting packages for damage before final loading. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Operates conveyors and handling equipment to move outgoing shipments.
• Maintains organization of loading docks to optimize workflow.
• Communicates clearly with team members and other departments to coordinate shipments.

Responsibilities

• Operates industrial trucks including sit-down/stand-up and reach forklifts to move outgoing orders.
• Moves materials to and from shipping/distribution areas and loading/receiving docks as required.
• Follow safe driving practices while operating material handling equipment.
• Loads and unloads materials from trucks efficiently and securely.
• Works closely with other departments, such as shipping, receiving and inventory to coordinate outbound shipments based on business needs.
• Assist team members in high volume situations to ensure efficient loading and dock operations.
• Oversees that completed orders are properly prepared, secured and labeled according to customer requirements and shipping regulations
• Inspects and reports any damage or non-compliant packaging to the Outbound Lead before loading
