Job Title: Shipping Clerk

Our Food Service Packaging plant in Plymouth, IN, is seeking a Shipping Clerk. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the shipping department by collaborating with scheduling, operations, and freight providers to ensure on-time product delivery to customers.

How You Will Impact Westrock:

1. Coordinate with third-party freight providers to schedule runs in the most cost-effective and time-efficient manner.
2. Attend daily scheduling meetings and assist the plant schedule in meeting customer requirements.
3. Prepare work orders and coordinate repairs for trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors.
4. Coordinate with Sales Service to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
5. Keep the Shipping Supervisor informed of any issues that may affect departmental performance.
6. Adhere to the daily production schedule and recommend optimizations to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals. Utilize computer systems, MS Office tools, and AS400-based WMS software in your duties.
7. Communicate with supervision to prevent problems related to shift changes.
8. Develop strong relationships with various freight lines.
9. Implement and support all company policies, including safety programs, union contracts, and good housekeeping.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions; present information clearly; and respond to management questions.
• Proficiency in basic math operations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts (8-hour, 10-hour, M-F), including on-call, overtime, and weekends.
• Prior experience in shipping coordination or related warehousing/distribution roles.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Warehouse experience: 1 year (preferred).
• Shipping & Receiving experience: 1 year (preferred).
• Must pass pre-employment screenings, drug tests, and background checks.
