Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist processes and loads customer orders, prepares shipments, and moves materials safely and efficiently within a warehouse environment using forklifts and related equipment. This role focuses on accurately pulling materials, packing boxes, staging orders in the delivery area, and supporting smooth warehouse operations on rotating 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Complete shipments by processing, loading, and unloading orders from trucks in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Prepare orders by reviewing requests and supply orders, pulling the correct materials, packing boxes, and placing completed orders in the designated delivery area.

  • Operate forklifts to move pallets and materials safely throughout the warehouse.

  • Utilize a handheld scanner to accurately track inventory, verify orders, and update shipment information.

  • Maintain a valid forklift certification and follow all guidelines for safe equipment operation.

  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies while working in the warehouse and surrounding areas.

  • Work independently to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and complete orders on time.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and assist with machine operation and maintenance as needed to support production and material handling.

  • Read and interpret basic blueprints or instructions when required to ensure accurate handling of materials.

  • Assist with production, assembly, and quality control tasks related to shipping and receiving activities.

  • Use overhead cranes or other material-handling equipment when necessary, following all safety protocols.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage of materials and equipment.

  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing, and grasping throughout the shift.

  • Carry out any other duties assigned to support overall warehouse and plant operations.

Essential Skills
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse environment.

  • Knowledge of operating a forklift and the ability to maintain forklift certification.

  • Ability to use a handheld scanner for order processing and inventory tracking.

  • Capability to work independently while following directions and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong commitment to working safely and following all safety procedures.

  • Ability to work on feet for 8 or more hours per shift.

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.

  • Willingness and ability to work in a non-controlled environment, including outdoor conditions.

  • Basic mathematics skills to support production, assembly, and material handling tasks.

  • Comfort performing repetitive physical movements such as climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing, and grasping.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and plant environment that operates on a rotating 12‑hour schedule, following a 3-on, 2-off, 2-on, 3-off pattern. You will work both indoors and in non‑controlled areas, including outside, and may be exposed to varying temperatures and typical industrial conditions. The position requires standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 pounds, and regular use of stairs, ladders, and material‑handling equipment such as automatic forklifts and overhead cranes. You will use handheld scanners and interact with production and assembly equipment as part of daily tasks. The setting emphasizes safety, proper equipment use, and adherence to operational procedures throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fernley, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
