What You’ll Do
As a Shipping & Receiving / Loader I, you’ll play an important role in keeping materials moving safely and efficiently throughout the facility. You’ll be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, organizing materials, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring shipping and receiving paperwork is completed correctly. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Safely load and unload trucks and shipments
- Operate lift trucks and other material-handling equipment
- Stage and organize pipe, tube, structural steel, component parts, and finished goods
- Pull and properly put away materials as needed
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and proper material organization
- Complete shipping and receiving paperwork and documentation
- Process receiving paperwork and vendor returns
- Review MTRs, bills of material, shipping documents, and other related paperwork
- Safely handle and stack materials using cranes, slings, clamps, and other lifting equipment
- Understand proper sling and lifting-device capacities and safe operating procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Take company-sponsored training for equipment as required
- Properly care for company tools and equipment
- Work efficiently and accurately while maintaining strong communication and teamwork
What You Need to Have
- Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material-handling environment
- Proven ability to safely operate lift trucks without constant supervision
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and paperwork
- Ability to accurately track and organize inventory
- Ability to safely load and secure materials for shipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to identify and work with different types, sizes, grades, and weights of steel/materials
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely work around heavy materials and lifting equipment
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Preferred Skills
- 1+ year of forklift/lift truck experience
- Previous experience handling steel, pipe, tube, structural materials, or other heavy industrial products
- Familiarity with MTRs, bills of material, and shipping documentation
- Previous crane, rigging, or material-handling experience
