Job summary

Hillman Group is seeking a receiving/shipping associate to prepare and process outgoing truckload, LTL, and overnight shipments. You will ensure items ship to the proper location according to schedules, and you will sort, label, palletize, and load products with attention to accuracy and safety.

You will operate pallet jacks, use RF guns, and enter data to generate shipping labels. The role requires basic computer skills, detail orientation, and the ability to follow written and verbal

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience in a distribution setting preferred.
• Basic computer skills; able to learn in-house vendor software.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately; good with numbers.
• Able to operate a pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Sorts packages and uses a hand scanner to determine shipment status.
• Checks boxes to ensure they are sealed, labeled and undamaged.
• Enters package data into the computer to generate shipping labels.
• Transfers LTL and UPS packages to appropriate staging locations.
• Palletizes skids and loads product onto trucks.
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Reports problems to supervisor; uses knowledge to resolve basic issues.
• May perform regular audits on outgoing shipments for accuracy.

Job description

Pay: $16.25/hour (plus an additional $1.50 shift differential)

Schedule: Monday through Friday - 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM

Overtime Schedule: Monday through Saturday - 2:30 PM to 12:00 AM

Job Summary

Essential Job Functions

• Sorts packages and uses a hand scanner to determine shipment status
• Checks boxes to ensure they are sealed, properly labeled and free from any damage; makes sure all quality standards are met
• Enters package data into the computer to generate shipping labels
• Transfers LTL and UPS packages to the appropriate staging locations
• Palletizes skids and loads product onto trucks
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies to complete tasks without waste
• Uses knowledge and experience to resolve basic operating problems; reports other problems to manager
• Operates a manual and/or motorized pallet jack
• Picks non-conveyable items and locates to appropriate staging area
• May perform regular audits on outgoing customer shipments to ensure orders are accurate and complete

Education & Experience

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work Environment

Shipping/Receiving: Fast-paced, standing on concrete floors up to 8 hrs/day. Exposure to loud noise. Functional vision and hearing required.

Physical Demands

Shipping/Receiving: Heavy, lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs.
