Job summary

Aerotek is hiring for a Shipper to accurately package customer products, prepare outbound shipments, and maintain shipping records in a manufacturing setting.

You will verify part numbers, prepare documentation, and coordinate shipments with carriers while supporting warehouse and inventory control activities. This role requires attention to detail and safe operation of warehouse equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving and general warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Verify products and quantities to minimize shipment errors.
  • Package products securely to prevent damage during transit.

Job description

Job Title: Shipper

This role is responsible for accurately packaging customer products, preparing and coordinating outbound shipments, and maintaining precise shipping and inventory records in a manufacturing environment. You will ensure products are properly identified, packaged, documented, and shipped according to customer specifications, quality standards, and company procedures while supporting warehouse and inventory control activities.

Responsibilities
  • Package customer products according to work instructions, customer specifications, and established quality standards.
  • Prepare shipments by verifying part numbers, quantities, certifications, and all required shipping documentation.
  • Inspect parts to confirm proper identification, packaging, and readiness for shipment.
  • Operate packaging equipment and select appropriate packing materials to protect products during transit.
  • Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required shipping documents accurately and on time.
  • Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers, couriers, and freight companies.
  • Load and unload shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in a safe manner.
  • Verify shipping information through ERP systems and shipping software platforms.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and perform inventory transactions in alignment with company procedures.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory control activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems, customer requirements, and internal company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by applying 5S principles.
  • Assist with receiving, material movement, and general warehouse activities when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately verify products, quantities, and customer requirements before shipment to minimize errors.
  • Ensure products are packaged to prevent damage during transportation and meet customer expectations.
  • Complete shipping documentation with minimal errors and in compliance with carrier and customer requirements.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment and follow all safety guidelines while handling materials.
  • Perform picking, staging, and unloading tasks to support production and shipping and receiving operations.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving, packing, and material handling within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to accurately verify products, quantities, and customer requirements before shipment.
  • Demonstrated skill in ensuring products are properly packaged to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Experience completing shipping documentation with minimal errors.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Experience with picking, unloading, and production support in shipping and receiving operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for verifying shipping information and processing inventory transactions.
  • Experience using shipping platforms such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, or freight carrier systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, metal processing, aerospace, automotive, or industrial environments.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and customer-specific requirements related to shipping and packaging.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience applying 5S or similar workplace organization principles in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Hebron, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $24.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
