Job summary

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Engineering & Analysis Division (Code 136), Quality Assurance Office. You will oversee QA surveillance, audits, and investigations across shipyard production activities, coordinating with production, engineering, and planning to ensure quality and readiness of ships and components.

The role requires evaluating drawings, specs, and procedures and following up on corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Experience with a full range of quality assurance principles, methods, and techniques.
• Understanding the relationship between quality assurance and engineering, production, and planning.
• Ability to review data to identify recurring defects and trends.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA surveillance, audits, reviews, and investigations of shipyard production activities.
• Coordinate identified deficiencies with production, engineering, planning, testing, and other responsible orgs.
• Determine whether procedures, drawings, specs, and work docs are properly implemented.
• Evaluate workmanship, process controls, documentation, and inspection results for quality characteristics.
• Perform follow-up surveillance to verify corrective actions are effective.
