Job summary

Avail Staffing is seeking an experienced QA / Safety Inspector to support ship repair and new construction projects at local shipyards. This role emphasizes NAVSEA standards and OSHA compliance while ensuring safety across welding, electrical, coatings, and structural work.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of shipyard QA or safety experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to read blueprints and drawings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of shipyard QA or safety experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance inspections on shipboard repair and new construction projects.
• Conduct routine safety inspections throughout shipyard work areas.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NAVSEA, and company safety standards.
• Inspect welding, pipefitting, electrical, coatings, mechanical, and structural work for quality compliance.
• Monitor hot work, confined space, and other high-risk operations.
• Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare inspection reports, deficiency reports, and quality documentation.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and accident investigations.
• Verify work packages, drawings, specifications, and procedures are followed.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
• Work closely with supervisors, production personnel, and customers to ensure project quality and safety requirements are met.
