Job summary

KBR is seeking a Shipboard Mechanic (Motor Transport) to perform basic automotive mechanic duties on the Ordnance family of vehicles aboard ship-oriented platforms. The role involves inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered systems and training of lower-level mechanics.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 4 years related experience, and completion of the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course or equivalent, with US citizenship and clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Four years of directly related work experience.
• Complete the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course; or equivalent.
• Knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and related components.
• Ability to detect faults and determine repair methods.
• Ability to read parts lists, repair manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Understanding of Hull, Suspension, Engine, Transmission, Turret, crane and sub-components repairs.
• Knowledge of requisitioning and stock lists.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic automotive mechanic duties inspecting, maintaining, and repairing Ordnance vehicles (LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB, Towed Artillery).
• Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level mechanics.
• Assists higher level mechanics and performs other tasks as assigned.
