Job summary

KBR is seeking a Shipboard Mechanic (Motor Transport) to perform basic automotive duties on Ordnance vehicles. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel powered systems aboard ships, with guidance to junior mechanics and support to senior technicians.

Candidates should have the required experience, a valid passport, a driver license, and eligibility for CAC/Base Access. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Four years of directly related work experience.
  • Complete the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course; or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and related components.
  • Ability to detect faults and determine repair methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manuals, diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic automotive mechanic duties on Ordnance vehicles (diesel powered: LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB, Towed Artillery).
  • Provide technical guidance to lower level mechanics and assist higher level mechanics.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair vehicle systems and subsystems; follow schedules and standards.
