Job summary

KBR is seeking a Shipboard Ordnance Equipment Mechanic to service diesel vehicles (LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB, Towed Artillery) aboard ships assigned to Guam/Saipan/Diego Garcia. The role includes inspection, maintenance and repair, plus mentoring lower level mechanics.

Required: high school diploma, 4 years related experience, LAV repair course or equivalent, knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and electrical schematics, plus the ability to obtain CAC, base access and a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Four (4) years of directly related work experience.
• Complete the Light Armored Vehicle Repairman Course; or equivalent.
• Knowledge of how engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and other parts and systems work.
• Ability to detect faulty items, determine cause of malfunction, and determine best repair methods.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manufacturers’ repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
• Thorough understanding of operation and repairs of Hull, Suspension, Engine, Transmission, Turret, crane, winches, and sub-components.
• Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements using Parts Manuals, etc.
• Must maintain a valid passport and a State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
• CAC and Base Access; Secret Clearance eligibility.
• U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic automotive mechanic duties on Ordnance family vehicles (diesel powered, incl. LAV, AAV, M1A1, AVLB).
• Provide technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level mechanics.
• Perform other assigned tasks as required.
