Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks an entry-level Shipboard Network Systems Engineer to support design, implementation, and maintenance of LANs aboard US Navy submarines. You will help maintain network integrity, performance, and security for submarine crews.

You will work with senior engineers, contribute to documentation, and develop core skills in shipboard network installation, testing, and sustainment activities, while growing in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems and Networks or Electrical Engineering by May 2027.
• 0–5 years post-grad engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing network solutions meeting DoD standards.
• Support investigations, data gathering, and simple trade-off analyses.
• Configure system elements for shipboard and lab environments.
• Document installation steps and maintain records under supervision.
• Support maintenance and upgrades of existing systems.
• Troubleshoot shipboard network issues with senior engineers.
• Provide remote assistance for routine Navy crew requests.
• Help prepare test forms and procedures.
• Assist in testing Navy applications.
